TARANAKI LODGES
ADVISED TO BE CAREFUL. ißv Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 2. Manchester Unity Lodges in Taranaki have been advised to be careful about accepting the Government’s offer to pay friendly societies from the Social Security Fund an amount equivalent to that of lodge members’ medical contributions. Drawing attention to a circular from the Taranaki division of the 18.M.A.,I B.M.A., which stated that acceptance of a social security subsidy from the Government would endanger existing contracts or arrangements with the medical profession, a circular to all Taranaki lodges from the district secretary of the Manchester Unity of Odd Fellows stated: “In view of statements already made by the local division of the British Medical Association, it would be unwise for lodges to accept the Government's offer unless they are assured beyond question that their medical officers will not terminate their contract, whatever the final resolution and decision of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association may be.
