SEED POTATOES

HOW TO GET THE BEST RESULTS. To get the best results the tubers should be packed as close together as possible in seed boxes or special sprouting trays with their rose ends upwards (the rose end is the end with the largest number of eyes). Only the healthy tubers should be selected and when they are all tightly in position they may be given a dusting over with lime.

Sprouting should commence in about three weeks’ time and after this the boxes should be moved around once a fortnight or so to keep the growths perpendicular. If the boxes are in a shed the tubers should be covered at night with several sheets of paper in case of frost.
