RED CROSS SOCIETY

PARCELS FOR PRISONERS FUND

(“Ti'mes-Age” Special.) A successful card party was held at the Red Cross Society’s rooms yesterday, in aid of the parcels for Prisoners of War Fund. The first prize in cards was won by Miss M. Nix, and the competitions by Mrs Willett- and Mrs. Watson. The following donations were re ceived: Short bread, Mrs Batty; cream sponge, Mrs Arch. Clark; jar honey, Miss Card; sultana cake. Miss Esma Card. The Society decided to thank Mr T. Lang for a donation of articles for the emergency first aid cupboard. Personal. Mrs Smart, Martinborough, and her son, Leading Aircraftman R. C. Smart, Levin, were weekend guests of Mr and Mrs R. P. Hardy. Golf Club,Competition. The following were the best cards handed in for the third round of the medal competition, held on Saturday afternoon: J. McCallum 81-10-71; W. Rowles 77-3-74: H. Neilson 90-16-74; K. Allen 82-7-75; J. Davis 91-16-75; H. Lovegrove 91-16-75; G. O'Neale 30-4-76.

The third round of the stableford competition will be played next Saturday.
