REGISTERED NURSES
MEETING OF WAIRARAPA BRANCH MEDICAL AND NURSING SERVICES AN INTERESTING ADDRESS. The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa branch of the Registered Nurses Association was held in the Nurses’ Home at the Masterton Hospital this week. Mrs W. James was elected president, the vacancy being caused by the resignation of Miss Barnett. Congratulations were extended to Miss Grant and Miss M. Brown on their new appointments. Mrs James welcomed back to Masterton Sister Stewart, who has returned from military duty overseas. Sister Stewart gave some interesting details of life in Egypt under war conditions. The speaker for the evening was Dr. Parr, superintendent of the hospital. His subject was "Public Medical and Nursing Services." A comparison was made between these services in England, Russia and New Zealand. Very interesting facts to do with the building up of the hospital service to its present state were given by Dr. Parr. The president moved a very hearty vote of thanks to Dr. Parr for his most interesting talk, this being carried by acclamation. Sister L. Fletcher, who is called up for duty overseas, was presented with a travelling manicure set from the Association. Another member. Miss G. Groves, who is now in Palmerston North and is (also doing military duty, was given a book from members. The serving of supper brought the meeting to 'a conclusion.
