COMING OF AGE
MISS ALMA DAVEY HONOURED. GATHERING AT SAVAGE CLUB ROOMS. Mr and Mrs D. Davey entertained one hundred guests at the Savage Club rooms, Masterton, recently, to honour the coming-of-age of their eldest daughter, Miss Alma Davey. The function proved an outstanding success, and an enjoyable time was spent in dancing to music supplied by Te Tail's Orchestra. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr C. Roff. Songs were contributed by Misses Morgan. A. Davey. Waireka Nini. and a tap dance was given by D. Davey. The items were well received. The toast to the guest of honour, coupled with the names of Mr R. Hausman (absent on overseas service), and Mesdames Hausman and Davey (grandmothers), was proposed in a suitable speech by Mr R. Walker. Miss Norma Davey responded. Mr Walker presented Miss Alma Davey with an inscribed key, in the unavoidable absence of Mr Davey. The birthday cake, which had been beautifully iced, was made and decorated by Miss N. Davey.* Many beautiful presents were received.
