Motorist Injured.
Mr Gordon B. Peterson, a resident of Macara Street, Masterton, was admitted to hospital early this morning with ,i deep cut over his left eye received when his car struck a telegraph pole in Church Street. There were no passengers in the car. On enquiry at the hospital today it was stated that Mr Peterson’s condition was satisfactory. War Finance. In an address at Wellington last night the chairman of the National Savings Committee, Mr T. N. Smallwood, referred to the progress in the committee's campaign for 250,000 national savings accounts and said that the number of accounts opened had now passed 150.000. He thanked the 152,363 men. women and children, together with holders of national savings bonds who had contributed £1,800,000 through national savings to the Dominion’s war effort, and stated that it would be a prouder day when he was able to include the further 98,000 supporters still required to reach the objective of 250.000 accounts.
The Wairarapa Caledonian Society will hold its second Ingleside this season, in the Masonic Hall. Masterton', on Wednesday, July 2.
