WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women's Institute the president, Mrs C. P. Jarrett, presided over a fair attendance of members. Two letters were read from soldiers serving overseas, thanking the Institute for parcels forwarded to them. Members were pleased to hear that the parcels had reached their destination safely and in good condition. The roll call, "A new Library Book," was answered by all present, and brought many helpful suggestions. A successful “Bring and Buy” stall was held during the afternoon. Mrs Wright showed members how to make squares from gay material and sheep's wool for a patch-work quilt. The competitions resulted as follow: —Child's bloomers: Miss Wright, t: Mrs Brophy, 2: Mrs Clarke, 3. Best bloom: Mrs Reside. 1; Mrs Clarke, 2; Miss Wright, 3.
HOME GUARD SUCCESSFUL DANCE. A dance conducted under the iiispices of the Kopuaranga Home Gurffcl, was held in the Kopuaranga Hall recently. A large number of visitors were present from Masterton and the surrounding districts. The gathering was a most successful one. Popular dance music was supplied by Mr J. West, and extras were played by Mr Hunt. Corporal C. P. Jarrett made a capable M.C. The supper arrangements were in the hands of a ladies' committee. Two novel dances, which caused much amusement, were an “excursion waltz," which was won by Mrs Dahlberg and partner, and a “honey waltz” which was won by Miss M. Clarke and Mr F. Cottle. The Kopuaranga Home Guard propose to hold a series of similar gatherings during the winter.
