ALFREDTON
GAMES NIGHT PATRIOTIC SOCIETY ACTIVITIES. (“Times-Age” Special.) The fortnightly games night conducted by the Patriotic Society was held on Saturday night. The winners of the games were: Ladies, Mrs Hall and Miss Hare 1; men. Messrs S| Edmonds, G. Godinagh, and R. Seymour equal 1. The following donations were thankfully received:—Mrs C. Taverner £1; Mr H. Percy £2; Mrs Jack Hartley, playing cards. A raffle for a pig was completed. The pig, which was donated by Mr G. Clarkson, was won by Mr W. Rolls, realising £2 9s 6d. A raffle for a goose donated by Mrs G. Clarkson was won by Mrs R. Low. It realised 19s. Two boxes of chocolates were raffled and won by Mrs T. Smith and Mr R. Low and realised £1 Os 3d.
The following goods were auctioned by Mr R. Kebbell: Wild pork, donated iby Messrs A. Leech and L. Duckett, 15s; half a sheep, donated by Didsbury Estate, 12s fid; eggs, donated by Mrs Huiford, 8s; vegetables grown and donated by Charles Leach, Ids 3d; celery, donated by Mr R. Kebbell. 3s. The total for the evening was £l3 10s Gd. The hostesses wore Mesdames Doyle and J. Hartley and Miss Doyle. Personal Items. Mrs W. Hood is visiting Carterton. Mr and Mrs J. Mouldey have been visiting Mr and Mrs A. Edmonds. Mr Vallance has returned to Masterton after visiting Alfrcdton for the dog trials. Mr E. Seymour has returned from Wellington. Miss K. Smith has left the district to take up a position in Wellington.
