FEATHERSTON
CITIZENS SERVICES HELD IN ANZAC HALL LAST NIGHT ("Times-Age” Special.) The seating accommodation at the Anzac Hall was taxed to its limit last night when a united citizens' service was held. The prayers were taken by the Rev R. S. Keenan and the Rev L. A. D. Hayman read the lesson. A solo, “Open the Gates of the Temple,” was rendered by Miss D. Jamieson, the accompaniment being played by, Mrs Dixon. Miss E. Collins was the accompanist for the united choirs, which led the singing of well known hymns. The Rev J. R. Higgs gave an inspiring address. Answering the question "Can we win the war against evil?" he said we could by having faith in Christ, by the power of God. by sacrifice and by courage. Personal Items. Aircraftmen J. Barraclough. E. J. Carlyon (Rongotai) and A. P. Clapshaw <Woodbourne) wore weekend visitors to Featherston. Miss Betty Lomas, Ngaio. visited Featherston over the weekend. Hockey. The local team scored a splendid win over Carterton B by 4 goals to 1. Swimming Club Dance. There was a good attendance at the Swimming Club dance held on Saturday night in Anzac Hall. Mr W. McNamara was M.C. and Mrs Moran supplied the music. The Monte Carlo dances were won by Mr A. Burt and Miss J. Wyeth and Mr W. McNamara and Miss M. Taylor. The committee greatly appreciate the service of Mr J. Elliot, who has Stated as doorkeeper for the club's functions. The supper was under the control of a Indies' committee.
