HELP FOR EX-SOLDIERS
WAIRARAPA PATRIOTIC ASSOCIATION MEETING OF SUBSCRIBERS. TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY. A further year of progress was recorded at the annual meeting of subscribers to the Wairarapa Patriotic Association held in Masterton this morning. The president, Mr H. M. Boddington, presided. There were also present Mesdames J. M. Coradine. J. Caselberg (Masterton), Miss H. Card (Featherston); Sir William Perry, Messrs S. J. W. Gill (Castlepoint), Hugh Morrison, W. G. Lamb, T. F. Watson. W. Candy, R. R. Burridge, H. J. Brass, A. E. Prentice (Masterton); A. Forsberg (Mauriceville), W. I. Armstrong (Masterton), A. H. Herbert (Eketahuna), and A. W. Horton (Greytown). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. Robertson, M.P., J. B. Carruthers (Eketahuna), H. Mortenson (Carterton), C. R. Holmes (Martinborough), and J. W. Card (Featherston). Prior to the commencement of business those present stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Mr B. Morriss .(Eketahuna representative). Tribute to Mr Morriss’s service in the interests of ex-service men was paid by Mr Boddington. Mrs Coradine submitted a brief report on visits she had paid to the Red Cross Home, Wellington, to provide comforts for bed-ridden ex-service men from the last war. A vote of thanks was accorded Mesdames Coradine and Caselberg and Miss Card for their work in connection with the home and the sustained interest shown in the Association’s affairs. , Mr Boddington stated that the meeting was the association's twenty-fifth anniversary. Of the original 25 members there were 14 members alive, most of whom were still members of the association. It was a remarkable record of service.
In moving the adoption of the annual report Mr Boddington stated that 247 cases' had been assisted last year, as compared with an average of 330 cases in the previous five years. He stated that the work of the association was gradually decreasing. , Mr Boddington was re-elected president. Tribute to his work during his term of office was paid by Sir William Perry and by Mr Morrison. Mr Boddington was also re-elected hon. treasurer. Mr G. W. Sellar was re-appoint-ed auditor.
