FEATHERSTON
PLUNKET SOCIETY ADDRESS BY NURSE. ("Times-Age” Special.) A meeting organised by Mrs Quentin Donald, president of the Featherston Plunket Society, was held in the Red Cross Rooms yesterday afternoon; when a good attendance of women from Featherston and the surrounding districts was present to hear an address by the Plunket Nurse, Miss V. B. Twentyman, who spoke on the advisability of women improving their knowledge of Plunket work, so that they could take charge of children in the event of an emergency. In some emergencies the Plunket Nurse may be called away for other work and for this reason several people would be appointed as Plunket aids to take charge where necessary. A vote of thanks was passed to Miss Twentyman. P.ed Cross Society's Rooms. Members of the Red Cross Society’s Sewing Circle have been busy putting their rooms in order. They were papered by Mr Rowles while the woodwork was painted by Mr Willett. The new linoleum, paid for by holding card parties, and curtains donated by Miss Palliser. give the rooms an attractive appearance. Mr Fred Benton has donated a window box for the display of work. The weekly card parties are now to be held in aid of the prisoners of war parcels' fund. Personal Items. Mrs J. Donald. Tauherenikau, has left for Australia to visit her brother, who is in poor health. Mr R. Barton, “Ongaha,” suffered a fractured right leg and a dislocated right thigh when he collided with a motor van in Petone on Monday afternoon. Mr Barton was riding a motor cycle.
