ALFREDTON
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Alfrectton Women's Institute was held on Friday. The attendance was small, owing to the wet weather. The time was spent in sewing garments for refugees. The Institute dance is to be held on Thursday, June 19. The winners in the competitions were: —Pullover for soldiers overseas: Mrs C. Low, 1,2, and 3. Balaclava for soldier: Mrs C. Low, 1; Mrs Dickens, 2; Miss Hare, 3. Fruit cake for overseas soldiers: Mrs Hull, 1; Mrs Weston, 2. Best, bloom: Mrs Weston. 2 and 3. The hostesses were Mesdames C, Low, V. Payne and Hull. Personal Items. Miss J. Rolls, of Wellington, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr and Mrs W. Rolls. Miss Winnie Smith was a weekend visitor to her parents, Mr and Mrs T. Smith. Mr and Mrs E. Hutchings were the guests of Mr and Mrs W. Hooper. Newman. over the weekend.
Sheep Dog Trials. The secretary of the Sheep Dog Trials Club (Mr J. Smith) has been very busy preparing the course on Mrs Didsbury's property for the trials which are to be held this week.
