FIRE BRIGADE BALL SUCCESSFUL GATHERING LAST NIGHT. j (“Times-Age” Special.) The Fire Brigade Ball held in the Anzac Hall last night was a great success, there being a large attendance including visitors from the surrounding districts. The M’s.C. were Messrs W. Boston and P. Habib. The music was supplied by Udy’s Orchestra. Extras were played by Miss G. Fraser and Mr T. Udy. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss Taylor and Mr Burt. — Euchre Party and Dance. Owing to the rough weather there was only a fair attendance at the euchre party and dance held in the Kaiwaiwai Hall on Saturday night. The winners of cards were: —Ladies: Mrs Baker. 1; Mrs Gooding, 2. Men: Mr W. Fuge, 1: Mrs E. Hall. 2. Red Cross Society Gathering. The weekly euchre party held at the Red Cross Society's rooms yesterday afternoon was well attended. The cake donated by Mrs Lawson was won by Mrs Sharp, and the mystery envelope by Mrs Willett. Featherston Golf Club. The following were the best cards handed in for the second round of the Shield competition held on Saturday afternoon:—H. Neilson, 83. 19, 6-1; H. Lovegrove. 86. 16, 70: L. Benton. 86. 16. 70; W. Rowles, 76, 3, 73; H. Bloxam. 86. 13. 73; 1. Donald. 91. 18. 73; R. Donald. 84. 10. 74; J. McCallum, 84 10 74. The annual "home and away" match with Martinborough will be played next Saturday, the first eight at Martinborough. and the second eight at Featherston.
