WOMEN’S INSTITUTE EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The ’Women’s Institute held a successful euchre party and dance on Saturday evening. There, was a large attendance. The prize-winners were: Messrs M. Waiwera, W. Adams, J. Priest and Mrs Seward. Mrs Te Whaiti and Mrs P. Te Aroatua won the Monte Carlo dance and Mr John Sutton and partner the spot waltz. The dance music was supplied by a local band, while Mr S. Mclntosh acted as M.C. Dairy Factory Closed. The local cheese factory ceased operations for the season on Monday. ' Personal Items. Mrs Spicer has returned from Wellington where she was the guest of her mother, Mrs Phillips. Mr B. H. McMaster, who is in training in a military camp at Dannevirke, returned to Dannevirke on Monday, after visiting relatives in this district. Mr E. Taurau, who had been at Tahoraiti for a few days, has returned home. Misses C. and R. Enoka, -who have been visiting the district, have returned to Dannevirke. Mrs R. Piripi is visiting Martinborough as the guest of Mrs J. Hunter. Private James Duggan is to be entertained at a social gathering in the Memorial Hall. Golf Contests. A Stableford bogey competition was played by members of the local golf club on Saturday. Conditions were ideal and there was a large attendance of members. S. Thomas was the winner of the men’s section with 35 points and G. Sutherland second with 33 points. Mrs Herangi won the ladies' competition with 26 points. On Monday the Sinclair Thompson Memorial Cup will be played over 36 holes (bogey). The ladies will play for the Mollie Hume trophy. On June 8 the inter-club match against Featherston will be played.
