INDOOR BASKETBALL
INTERHOUSE GAMES MANY EXCITING CONTESTS LAST NIGHT. SURPRISE WIN FOR VESTA BATTERY. There were many exciting games in the third round of the Wairarapa Interhouse Association’s indoor basketball competitions played in the Y.M.C.A. last, evening. The major surprise of the evening was the defeat of Bouzaid's by the Vesta Battery team in a game rather spoilt by over-eager-ness by the players of both teams. The W.F.C.A. drew with State Kitchenette in a fast game. Wool worth’s ladies, who were defeated by Garages last week, made a very determined effort to lower the colours of -the W.F.C.A. and the game resulted in a draw. As predicted Tattoo’s defeated. State B and Cody’s defeated Cathies. The association is very fortunate in that Mr H. Piper, the Physical Welfare Officer of the Department of Internal Affairs, comes to Masterton each week to assist in refereeing the games. The referees for the various games last evening were: Messrs W. Grantham, D. Minifie, H. Piper, D. Costello and Mrs H. Piper (Wellington). Score-keep-ers were: Messrs G. Davis and A. Callister.
