THE GREAT LEVANTE
"HOW’S TRICKS.” Coming to the Opera House on Saturday next, for one night only is the Great Levante, a master of all modern magic, and his English cofnpany of 32 artists from the Kingsway Theatre, London, and who has just completed a successful season in the South Island. Levante 'makes rabbits, ducks, canaries, pigeons, and the like-appear and disappear, and swords and bullets to pass mysteriously through girl assistants. A young woman is pulled through a small keyhole. To cap all this, another girl is loaded into a projectile and placed in the muzzle of a large gun and fired through a solid sheet of steel. While walking through his audience Levante pours champagne, whisky, liqueurs, ale, and milk, and gives away both kettle and product. Interspersed are several vaudeville and revue acts by artists with the hall-mark of England’s famous music halls. The box plans open at Steele and Bull’s tomorrow (Wednesday), and intending patrons are advised to book their seats thereby saving disappointment at the doors. There can bp no extension of season or return visit.
