MARTINBOROUGH
BIBLE SOCIETY VISIT OF SECRETARY. ("Times-Age" Special.) A visit has been paid to this district by Mrs Wakelin, organising secretary for the British and Foreign Bible Society, during which she gave addresses at the various churches and Sunday schools. At a meeting during the week Mrs Wakelin addressed members of the branch in the Parish Hall. The Rev. F. O. Ball presided, and the Rev. C. W. Madill also took part. In her address Mrs Wakelin congratulated the branch on the big advance during the year, especially with donations—in fact it had been a most successful year throughout New Zealand. Owing to the war conditions great difficulties were experienced in many European countries. Great Britain in this connection was in a helpless condition, and a decrease of £ll,OOO took place in the funds. At the conclusion of the address, -he speaker was accorded a vote of thanks. Votes of thanks were passed to the collectors. The following officers'were elected: President, Mrs A. Tyler; vice-presi-dents, the Revs. F. O. Ball and C. W. Madill, Mesdames Lamo, J. McLeod, W. B. Martin, and R. Nicol; secretary, Miss J. Hibberd. Hockey. The following ladies’ team will play against Featherston at Martinborough tomorrow: Goal, L. Kaio; full-backs, J. Grant, J. McCardle; halves, S. Caseley, L. McCardle, P. Duffy; forwards, N. Lyster, R. McKinley, M. McKinley, W. Fuller, P. Trounce.
