MAURICEVILLE
SOLDIER HONOURED (“Times-Age" Special.) There was a large and representative attendance at the dance held in honour of Private J. L. Clarke in the Mauriceville East Hall. Mr E. W. Cheetham, chairman of the local patriotic committee, in an appropriate speech, presented the guest of honour with a wristlet watch. Mrs J. A. Baine, on behalf of the Women’s Institute, presented Private Clark with a suitable woollen garment, and wished him the best of luck and a safe return. Private Clarke suitably replied and emphasised his keenness to join his brother overseas. The supper arrangements were in the hands of Mrs J. L. McArley and her capable assistants. Mr H. Milner officiated as M.C. and a most enjoyable tfme was spent by those present. Plunket Society. A meeting of the local branch of the Plunket Society will be held on Tuesday afternoon in the Mauriceville East Hall. The Society has had a successful year, and has carried out a considerable amount of work.
Personal. Mrs F. Pain is at present visiting Palmerston North.
