EKETAHUNA
DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL BREAK-UP ENTERTAINMENT. (“Times-Age” Special.) On Friday last the pupils of the Secondary Department of the Eketahuna District High School gave a class-room entertainment to mark the last day of the term. Piano solos were given by Kathleen Willis ("Consolation”) and Nancy Fordyce ("Rustle of Spring"); recitations by Muriel Gray, Jill Hart and Verna Cooper. Songs were sung by Dulcie Boustead, Joyce Tolley and Isobel Watterreus, the last-mentioned giving an excellent rendering of "Balalaika." The accompanists for the songs were Joy Hornblow and Margaret McManus. A most unusual and interesting item was given by William Kwan, being a talk on “Gems of Chinese Poetry.” Two selected poems were written on the blackboard in both English and Chinese. A few topical "hits" of school interest were given, between items, by Pat Stewart and Colin Houlbrooke. TEACHERS MEET PAHIATUA-BUSH BRANCH. The annual meeting of the PahiatuaEush branch of the.
