WEDDINGS
LAMB—BENNETT. A pretty wedding of wide interest took place at St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, on Saturday afternoon when Rachael, daughter of Mr and Mrs A. P. Bennett, Essex Street, Masterton, was married to Stanley Grundy, youngest son of Mr and Mrs W. G. Lamb, Herbert Street, Masterton. The ceremony was performed by the Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich, and Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ. The church was beautifully decorated. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of brocaded silver tissue, cut on slim fitting lines finishing in a graceful train. The veil was caught j up with real orange blossoms, the gift of the girls at Chilton St. Jame’s ’ School, Lower Hutt. She carried a sheaf of cream roses, white gladioli and maidenhair’ fern.
The bridesmaid, Miss Jean Couaghan (Wellington) was attired in soft pink sheer. She wore a veil to tone and carried a sheaf of pink roses.
The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Maurice Perry (Mauriceville).
A reception was held at “Caloola,” home of the bride’s parents, where immediate relatives were present. The decorations were carried out with chrysanthemums, autumn tints, Iceland poppies and roses.
Mesdames Bennett and Lamb received the guests. The former wore black lace with a short Maribu coat and a shoulder spray of pink roses and maidenhair fern. Mrs Lamb was attired in red lace with a fur cape.
When Mr and Mrs S. G. Lamb left by car for the south the bride wore a cherry frock with a contrasting black coat and a halo hat. Their future home will be in Masterton.
, STEER— McLACHLAN. The marriage took place recently at the Lansdowne Presbyterian Church of Elaine Irene, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. McLachlan, Masterton, and Roy Ashton, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. Steer, also of Masterton. The Rev. David McNeur officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was attired in a two-piece ensemble of moonlight blue wool boucle, blue-grey model felt hat, veiled in navy and navy accessories. She cariried a bouquet of pink carnations, roses and maidenhair fern, and wore a shoulder spray to tone. The bride was attended by Mrs C. M. McLachlan as matron of honour, her ensemble being of rose-bud pink with navy accessories. She carried a bouquet to tone. Mr Eric Steer, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man. As the bride left the church she was presented with a silver horse shoe by her cousin, little Dawn Hartman. After the ceremony the reception was held at the home of the bride’s aunt, Mrs P. Hartman, who received the guests wearing a frock of navy satin beaute, relieved with red and white, navy hat and accessories and a shoulder spray of red roses. She was i assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a navy tailored costume, navy hat and accessories and a shoulder spray of red tonings.
Later Mr and Mrs Steer left for the South Island, the bride wearing a smart grey tailored costume, black felt hat and accessories of black suede.
