EMERGENCY FIRE SERVICE
MEN WANTED FOR MASTERTON UNIT. APPEAL BY SUPERINTENDENT. A final appeal is made by Mr T. D Clark, superintendent of the Masterton Fire Brigade, for men to join the Emergency Fire Service. In response to former appeals, twelve men offered their services but a medical examina-
lion of the applicants reduced (he number to four. Twenty men are required. Mr Clark said married men. not over 45 years of age and not eligible for military service were wanted for the Emergency Fire Service. After interviewing Mr Girling Butcher, the Dominion Fire Controller, Mr Clark said he appealed to the commander of the Masterton Home Guard units to see if any members of the guard would prefer to join up with the Emergency Fire Service but so far no response had resulted. Applicants are requested to communicate with Mr Clark, who will supply full particulars relating to the service required and to the payment made for attending parades.
