GREYTOWN

METHODIST CHURCH INDUCTION SERVICE. ("Times-Age” Special.) There was a large gathering in the Methodist Church on Wednesday evening, when the induction of the Rev. L. A. D. Hayman took place. Tne Rev. Percy Pans, Wellington, chairman of the district, presided, ana preached the induction cnarge. Visiting ministers taking part in tne service were: The Revs. R. B. Gosnell, Wellington; H. J. Kings, Masterton; and J. A. Daglish, Carterton. The choir rendered an anthem, and after the Rev. G. Knowles-Smitn had pronounced the Benediction, a social nour was held in the school room, where tne opportunity was given the ministers to meet the congregation. Mr Daglish rendered the solo, “For England.” The speakers were the Rev. Bloomfield (Presbyterian), and Canon Sykes, who extended greetings from their respective churches, Mr W. H. Sadler, and Mr B. J. Lobb, representing the Featherston Church.

On behalf of the circuit,' the circuit stewards, Messrs A. M. Gray andB. J. Lobb, introduced Mr Hayman. Supper was served by the ladies, and concluded a happy gathering. LADIES’ GUILD MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Greytpwn Methodist Church Ladies’ Guild was held at the home of Mrs E. J. Haigh. Mrs W. Sadler presided over a good attendance. The report of the sunshine committee was received, and Mesdames Gray and Greathead were appointed sick visitors for May. The thought for the month was given by Mrs KnowlesSmith. It was decided that the next meeting be the first of the combinedjnissionary meetings, when Sister Elizabeth Common, who is on furlough from the Solomon Islands, would attend, and members of the other guilds and all interested would be invited. It was reported that the organ had been reconditioned, and Mrs Peterson was thanked for supplying the material. New cleaning material had been purchased. Arrangements for the Mother’s Day service were made, and a motion of sympathy passed to all sick folk of the church.

A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Haigh for her hospitality.
