HUGE WIND TUNNEL.—View of the high-speed wind tunnel, the largest in the world, at Wright Field. Ohio. The tunnel will test the component parts of modern combat aeroplanes at simulated flying speeds of 400 m.p.h. The steel tubes of the tunnel are 40ft. in diameter, and a 40.000 horse-power Electric motor will drive the air in the tunnel. Scale models up to 15ft. in wing span can be tested.
