COSY THEATRE
“DARK STREETS OF CAIRO.” Thrills and adventure in the land of the ancient pyramids are offered in Universal’s romantic mystery-drama, “Dark Streets of Cairo,” showing tonight at the Cosy Theatre. Sigrid Gurie is seen as the beautiful heiress who becomes involved in the theft of a fabulous jewel collection and Ralph Byrd has the leading romantic role opposite the blonde Norwegian actress. Katherine DeMille portrays an exotic native girl who risks her life while aiding police in the. capture of a dangerous band of cut-throats. Eddie Quillan supplies comedy as an irrepressible photographer for an American archaeological expedition. The latest in the hilarious series of Columbia comedies, “Blondie Brings Up Baby,” is the associate feature. This new Blondie film has been hailed as the funniest of the hectic films to date. If advance accounts of the story are to be considered, and fond memories of the previous performances are to be recalled, there can be little doubt as to the intrinsic merit of the preview comments. Action of “Blondie Brings Up Baby” begins with Blondie’s purchase of a twelve-volume encyclopaedia on child training and complications mount with amazing rapidity and reach the peak of hilarity with a kidnap scene.
