TRUST AFFAIRS
BUSINESS AT LAST NIGHT’S MEETING. ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust was held last night. Mr H. P. Hugo presided. There were also present Messrs J. Macfarlane Laing, A. Owen Jones, C. E. Grey, R. Page, R. Krahagen, E. G. Eton. H. H. Daniell and the secretary, Mr A. W. McKenzie, An apology for absence was received from Mr J. H. Handyside. The treasurer reported a total credit balance of £1606 15s Id. Accounts lor £55 4s 8d were passed. The tender of Messrs Jenkins and Biggs, building contractors, was accepted for extensive alterations to a Trust building in Dixon Street. The Masterton Sedgley Home Committee wrote thanking the Trust for its special grant of £5 for school supplies. The Wairarapa Rugby Union thanked trustees for writing off arrears of rent and for the special arrangement for the war period. The Plunket Society and the St John Ambulance (men’s division) applied for grants for the present financial year. Both applications were deferred until the estimates meeting was held. The Auditor-General returned the statement of accounts for the year ended March 31, 1941. certifying that the accounts were correct'. Mr Jones congratulated Mr McKenzie on having got the accounts through so early. The chairman. Mr Hugo, stated that Mr McKenzie had brought the auditor up by car from Wellington while on holidays to put the accounts through in time for the annual meeting. Had he not done so. the books wotdd not have been examined for some time.
Members expressed pleasure that there were no "tags" and appreciation of Mr McKenzie's action was placed on record.
