GREYTOWN
SCHOOL SOCIAL COMPETITIONS AND OTHER ITEMS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Greytown District High School pupils held their end of term social last evening in the Odd Fellows’ Hall. The hall was packed with pupils, their parents and friends. The evening took the form of dancing, competitions .and items. Harley Nichols contributed mouth-organ solos, Linda and Gwenda Ingley played "The Elue Danube,” duet, in a finished style. A competition (silhouettes) was won by Mary Garter and John Lyford. Monte Carlo partners to receive prizes were: Mrs D. Burch and Miss Harding and the lucky spot winners were Ray Humphries and Peter Brabender. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs H. G. Carter and extras were played by Beryl Hawke and Joan Ingley. The supper arrangements were in the hands of the pupils. Mr Maloney thanked the pupils for the capable way in which they ran the party, and apologised for the absence of the headmaster, Mr S. Shedden. He also thanked Mrs Carter for once again supplying the music. Mr H. G. Carter, chairman of 'the School Committee, spoke to the children and congratulated them on their splendid party. The evening closed with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne" and the National Anthem.
