SWIMMING CLUB PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. (“Times-Age” Special.) A most enjoyable euchre tourney and dance was held on Saturday night to close the Martinborough Swimming Club’s season. There was a large attendance. The prizes for the euchre tourney fell to Mesdames Moffitt 1 and Mrs Benton 2 in the ladies' section, and to Mr Amundsen 1 and Mr I. Howatt 2 for the men. Mr C. W. Skill, president of the club, presented the following points trophies for the season:- —Swimming, men, Peter Craig; ladies, Miss J. Theobald. Boys, Frank Mills. Diving, men, B. Kelly; ladies, Alison Mills. Consolation prize for girls, Margaret Chapman. HOME AND SCHOOL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Home and School Association was held on Thursday night, Mrs L. Chapman presiding over a good attendance. The balance sheet showed a credit of £8 Is on the year’s working. Officers elected were: —Patron, Mrs A. Tyler; president, Mrs J. A. Beveridge; vice-presidents, Mesdames Chapman, Lawrence, Blackwell, Griffiths, Coutts, R. Eurch, Messrs C. W. Skill and W. J. McNally; secretary, Miss B. Boyd; committee, Mesdames Chapman, Lawrence, Hayman, Johns, Knell, Sadd, Blackwell, Campbell, Dale, Mason and Burch. The headmaster (Mr Pryor) expressed the appreciation of the teaching staff, for what the association had done to help the school. It was decided to continue the par-ent-teacher talks monthly during the coming year. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Women's Institute a motion of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Mrs Jolly. The best bloom in the garden competition was won by Mrs Watson, Mrs Wright being second. Tomato sauce: Mrs O’Brien, 1; Mrs M. N. Hardie 2. Mrs Boyd was elected as president and Mrs A. Tyler vice-president.’ The Rev. F. O. Ball gave a most interesting talk on nature during the afternoon, and a vote of thanks was carried by acclamation.
