ENEMIES MEET

AT LISBON AIRPORT. MR MENZIES ON HIS WAY TO AMERICA. LISBON, May 4. The Australian Prime Minister, Mr Menzies, who is en route to America, arrived here piloted by Captain Parmentier in a Dutch airliner. Mr Menzies was escorted part of the way by the Royal Air Force Coastal Command. On alighting here he rubbed shoulders with the German crew of a four-motored Junkers transport plane. They eyed him curiously. Italian machines were also on the aerodrome, which is the only one in Europe where belligerents regularly meet.
