MUNITIONS INDUSTRY
CONTROLLER APPOINTED. GIVEN VERY WIDE POWERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Authority for the appointment of a munitions controller, on whom wide powers are conferred in connection with the manufacture of munitions in the Dominion, is contained in regulations gazetted last night. The controller will come under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Supply and Munitions, and his general functions will be to organise and promote the production of munitions, and to ensure the supply of labour, materials, plant, tools and equipment for this purpose. The controller may also be required to deliver munitions to any country within the British Dominions, and to acquire, provide and supply munitions (not being aircraft, motor-vehicles nr ships) required by or on behalf of the Government of any British country. The controller will be given power to require the proprietor of any undertaking to cease, restrict or increase production of any specified class of goods, or to produce any munitions which may be specified. He may also regulate, restrict and control the use. sale, supply, distribution and disposal of munitions generally.
