MAURICEVILLE
DAYLIGHT PARADES LOCAL HOME GUARD UNITS. (“Times-Age” Special.) . On Sunday last there was almost a full attendance as the first daylight parade of the Mauriceville Home Guard units. All men displayed definite keenness and throughout the day instruction was given in company drill, rifle and section drill, field manoeuvres and signals.
ANZAC DAY
/ CEREMONY AT MAURICEVILLE EAST. Anzac Day will be commemorated in Mauriceville on Friday by a public address at 10.30 a.m., under the auspices of the School Committee. CaptF. W. Parry will address those present and an appropriate service has been arranged. Ex-service men and the local Home Guard units will assemble at the dairy factory at 10.15 a.m. and will march to the school grounds. Personal. z . 1 Mrs McLean-Hare, late assistant teacher at the East School, was recently the guest of Mr and Mrs C. M. Meredith, Tikitapu. Miss Myrle Nikolaison is at present spending a few days in the Hawkes Bay district. Red Cross. The sub-centre of the Red Cross will shortly continue with the good work so enthusiastically undertaken during, the winter months of last season. Much time was devoted to sewing garments of every description for the refugees and for patriotic purposes. It is desired that many members and helpers will be present at the County Chambers on Tuesday next to discuss the proposed activities for the coming months.
