BOWLING CLOSING OF THE SEASON. ("Times-Age” Special.) After the finish of the club singles tourney on Saturday, bowling for the season was brought to a close. The president of the Martinborough Club, Mr W. J. Knell, presented the trophies for the year, and briefly commented on the club’s success in centre competitions this year, and also complimented the various members who had won' club competitions. He presented the various trophies as follow: Club singles (Boyd Cup), J. Larsen; pairs, R. Baker and A. C. Caseley; fours, F. Craig, J. Jenkins, A. C. Caseley and W. J. Knell; R.S.A. Cup, R. Baker (junior singles); Community Cup (pairs), R. Baker and W. J. Knell; LarsenJacobsen Cup (singles), J. Jenkins. The club has had a most successful season. In the centre competitions its representatives have won the competitions for the Booth Cup and Shield. Of the 5 games for each trophy, the teams had 3 wins. 1 draw, and 1 loss in each competition.

TENNIS SEASON PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. The Martinborough Lawn Tennis Club brought its season to a close on Saturday afternoon, when there was a good attendance of members and friends. Mr Jack Martin reviewed the season and said activities had to be somewhat curtailed during the past' year. Nevertheless, many enjoyable club competitions had been held. An effort in aid of patriotic funds had been very successful, and he thanked all who had helped in that respect, and also the ladies who had provided refreshments throughout the season. Prior to declaring the season closed, Miss M. C. Martin, president, presented the following club trophies: Ladies’ singles, Miss N. Prussing; men’s singles. Mr G. S. McLeod. Football. At the annual meeting of the Martinborough Football Club it was stated that 24 members were on active service with overseas forces. This fact, it was stated, would handicap the club in entering teams for competitions.
