GREYTOWN
WEDDING WESTWOOD—HAIGH. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Greytown Methodist Church was the scene of a pretty wedding on Easter Monday, the contracting parties being Gwendoline Joyce, second daughter of Mr and Mrs E. J. Haigh. and Frank Arnett Westwood, second son of the late Mr and Mrs Westwood, Feilding. The church was decorated with dahlias. The Rev. H. E. Harkness, M.A., was the officiating minister, and a sister of the bride, Mrs M. J. Greathead, presided at the organ. The bride who was given away by her father, wore a trained gown of magnolia satin, with heart-shaped neckline, and long shirred sleeves with points over the wrists. The veil, which was lent by a cousin of the bride, Mrs M. Maddison, of Hastings, was held in place by a coronet of pink flowers. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations, roses and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids were three sisters of the bride. Misses Nancy (chief), Dulcie and Kathleen. They were dressed alike in blue georgette frocks with diamante clips. Their bouquets were of pink carnations, blue delphiniums and maidenhair fern, and they wore pink flowers in their hair. Mr Parminter was best man, and Messrs ruddy and Staples were groomsmen.
During the signing of the register, Mrs H. J. Farley sang “I’ll Walk Beside You.”
The reception was held at the Odd Fellows’ Hall, where the guests were received by Mrs Haigh, who wore a dusky pink and navy ensemble. Mrs Gressier, Wellington, who assisted her, wore a navy lace ensemble. Both carried bouquets of autumn flowers.
In proposing the toast of the bride’s parents, Mr H. J. Nightingale made mention of the thirty-second wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs E. J. Haigh. which would be celebrated during the week. The two bridesmaids of that wedding were present. They were Mrs Trissider, Hastings, and Mrs Hilton Parker, Carterton, both daughters of Mrs Hart Udy. During the evening a solo was sung by Mrs Tressider. When Mr and Mrs Westwood later left for their new home in Wellington, Mrs Westwood was wearing a grey and blue ensemble, with accessories to match.
