GOLF OPENING OF SEASON’S PLAY. (“Times-Age" Special.) The Featherston Golf Club’s season was opened on Saturday afternoon by the president, Mr J. W. Card. Mr Card said that seven new greens out of nine had been prepared and the playing area rearranged. This was the first time the new layout had been used. A mixed foursome over 9 holes vzas won by J. McCallum and Miss Rowles, 35 net. Personal. Aircraftsman C. J. Carlyon, Rongotai, was a weekend visitor to Featherston. Miss Margaret Eccles, Greytown, was the weekend guest of Mrs McKenna, Pahautea. Messrs Guy Wendon and Alex MeCleod left on Friday for a motor tour of the South Island. St. John's Church. > The evening service at St. John’s Church yesterday was taken by the Rev. Canon Sykes, Greytown. The preacher was the Rev. D. Calder, of the British and Foreign Bible Society. Mr Calder spoke at the morning service in the Presbyterian Church. Members from Tutanekae Lodge No. 156. Wellington, and other lodges paid their annual visit to St. John's Lodge No. 37 on Saturday night. There were about 70 present.
