THE ROCK GARDEN
GIVE IT ATTENTION NOW. The early autumn rains have freshened the earth after the dry snell and brought it into a good condition for planting. Such conditions should be taken advantage of. particularly in the rock garden and the replenishing of empty spaces together with the introduction of any new plants attended to. The great advantage of autumn planting lies in the fact that the plants are enabled to become established to, a greater degree than if the work is carried out in spring. The result is a better display on the rock garden early in the year. One should forget that many plants of a bulbous habit are more adapted to rock garden culture than elsewhere and the miniature daffodil species should certainly be represented.
