OBITUARY
MRS E. C. JOLLY. On Thursday Mrs E. C. Jolly was found dead at her residence in Strasburg Street, where she had been living alone. The deceased had attended a Red Cross meeting the previous night, and evidently had a seizure. Some friends on going to her residence to deliver a parcel next morning, received no answer to their summons at the door and went to an open window to put the parcel inside. Noticing the lights burning they looked in, and saw Mrs Jolly lying across the bed fully clothed. Death had occurred some hours previously. The deceased had been a well-known resident of this town for many years, and took a keen interest in all its activities. She was a valued member of the Presbyterian Church. For some years she had been secretary and later president of the Women’s Institute, and it was due to her untiring efforts as secretary, that the local branch of the Red Cross Society was organised. Her death will be sincerely mourned by a wide circle of friends. Her husband predeceased her several years ago. .
