TWO YEARS' BORSTAL
YOUNG WOMAN SENTENCED IN CHRISTCHURCH. HOTEL THEFTS IN AUCKLAND & WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A 23-ycar-old typist, Patricia Mary Treacy. was sent to a Borstal Institute for two years by Mr E. C. Levvcy. S.M., today, on seven charges of theft from hotels of goods valued at £lO2. The offences were committed at Wellington and Auckland. Detective-Ser-geant McClung said that the girl, with a male friend, arrived from Wellington' last month and stayed at a hotel in the city. She was then on probation, one of the conditions being that she should not associate with this man. "She could accurately be described as a hotel thief and shoplifter," said Detec-tive-Sergeant McClung. "She has two previous convictions. The man made a lot of promises about restitution, but that is all."
