This Day. The trainer. Mr. Jamieson (formerly of Masterton) said that High Caste was still pretty sore and it would be a couple of days before it was known whether the horse would be fit to run in the Doncaster Handicap, for which it was favourite. Mr. Stewart, owner of Beau Vite, blamed interference for the horse’s failure in the Chipping Norton Stakes on Saturday, but McMenamin said that Beau Vite could have escaped the troubel had ho been speedy enough. Beau Vite was squeezed a little at the ralf-mile but only because he was not fast enough to take advantage of an opening. He did not go like a champion at any part of the race. Beau Vite carries a mark where lie struck the running rail, but appears sound. Mr. Stewart, said that Beau Vite would do better at the Easter meeting and intends to bring the horse back to Ausralia for the Melbourne Cup.
