Official sources revealed that the Lease and Lend programme at present calls for the production of 15,000 planes, 330 merchant ships and 5,00(1 tanks for Britain, in addition io large quantities of ordnance and food. A majority of the planes will be bombers and the tanks will be of medium types. Britain has expressed the hope that the programme will be completed by July. 1942. President Roosevelt has disclosed that he had ordered the construction of . 212 merchant ships for Britain. It is explained that these will be built in sixty hew shipyards and be ready for sea early in 1942.
