DAYLIGHT SWEEP
OVER OCCUPIED FRANCE & BELGIUM MADE BY R.A.F. FIGHTERS. I - SLIGHT ENEMY ACTIVITY OVER BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) RUGBY, April 4. “In course of an offensive patrol carried out by R.A.F. fighters over northern France and Belgium today,” states an Air Ministry communique, “aerodrome buildings, landing grounds and grounded aircraft were machinegunned. One of our planes is missing." A communique states that activity by enemy aircraft over Britain today has been slight and mostly in coastal areas. No bombs are reported to have been dropped on land, but this morning there was machine-gun fire in northeast Scotland and at one place in north-east England. One person was wounded and there was slight damage to houses. EIGHT KILLED NIGHT RAID ON VILLAGE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright! (Received This Day, 11.35 a.m.) LONDON. April 4. Eight persons were killed and a number injured when a Single raider homed a village in the Home Counties last night. The London County Council estimates for the year 1941-42 include: Meals for those who have been bombed £50.000; rest centres, £1,650,000; debris disposal, £5,567,000.
