CARNIVAL PREPARATIONS

FREE KINDERGARTEN PROJECT. A general meeting of the Masterton West Free Kindergarten supporters was held at 24 Masters Crescent on Thursday night, and the president. Mrs C. J. Williams, introduced to the gathering Mr M. G. McKay. Mr McKay is organising the Fair to be held at the Wairarapa College grounds on April 5, and his outline of the programme for the day was enthusiastically approved. The programme, said Mr McKay, would include pony rides, novelty events such as lawnmower races, a wheelbarrow derby, pillowfighting on a pole, an amateur and professional haircutting contest, sideshows, lucky dips, and many other attractions. A motion that the fullest support of the Masterton West Free Kindergarten be accorded any part of the Masterton district wishing to establish a similar institution was unanimously carried.
