MASTERTON WEST SCHOOL
COMMITTEE MEETS. FAIR RESPONSE WITH DENTAL CLINIC PAYMENTS. Mr. E. R. Rogers presided at a meeting of the Masterton West School Committee, yesterday; there also were present Messrs. Haybittie, Baird, Graham, Tooby and Campbell. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. Batty and Gilbert. With ,a view to seeking assistance in putting the sports side of school life on a better footing, Mr. Renner waited on the committee offering to coach the boys in cricket and Rugby. He was thanked for his offer and assured of the committees’ full support. The headmaster was asked to bring down a report on milk distribution in the school. It had come.to the committee’s notice that in some cases two children drank out of one bottle, and complaints had been made of the condition of the bottles. It was decided to change meeting night to the third Wednesday instead of the third Thursday of the month to obviate clashing with Home Guard parades. Accounts amounting to £l7 17s 3d. were passed. The opening of the new school was discussed, but the matter was finally deferred till the April meeting. It was reported that the school should be ready for occupation in three weeks. A sub-committee reported that the collection of arrears of Dental Clinic fees was being dealt with and a fair response was being obtained. The matter of housing a clinic at the school was not being lost sight of. Improvements to the grounds were discussed, it being generally felt that these grounds were capable of being developed extensively. Permission was being sought to erect notice boards indicating the location of the school, owing to its secluded position.
