CROSSING FATALITY

PEDESTRIAN KILLED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.! PALMERSTON N.. March 17. An elderly pedestrian, Mr. William Jones, received fatal injuries when he was struck by the express from New Plymouth at the railway crossing in the Square. Palmerston North, opposite the post office. shortly after another train had just negotiated the crossing travelling in the opposite direction, and Mr. Jones apparently failed to notice the oncoming New Plymouth-Welling-ton express, which struck him. He was being removed to hospital, but died before the ambulance reached its destination.
