Y.M.C.A.

LADIES’ AUXILIARY. MONTHLY & ANNUAL MEETINGS.

The monthly meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Y.M.C.A. was held on Thursday afternoon, there being a large attendance. The chair was occupied by Mrs Corskie (vice-presid-ent) in the unavoidable absence of the president, Mrs H. E. Pither. Several apologies for absence were received and two new members were welcomed. Reports of work on hand were given, a very live interest in the organisation being evident. A decision was made to carry on the usual popular fortnightly card parties at the old charge of Is admission. commencing on Thursday, April 3. The reports of two efforts made on behalf of the Nursing-Navy Queen showed good results. The retirement of Mrs Cottle from the position of secretary was sincerely regretted, several members speaking of the faithful attention to duties and consistent interest shown by Mrs Cottle during the 6 years she had held office. The finances were reported to be in a satisfactory condition, and that the auxiliary will be able to materially assist the board in its work for 1941. At the close of the monthly meeting the annual meeting was held, the general secretary, Mr C. W. Gaze, presiding. The annual report showed that there had been considerable activity during the past year. The following officers were elected: —President, ' Mrs H. E. Pither; vicepresidents, Mesdames Corskie, Bannister, Pike; secretary, Mrs Pickering; co-trustee, Mrs Pickering; treasurer, the general secretary, Mr C. W. Gaze. Mrs Kilgour, who was unanimously elected to life membership, moved a vote of thanks to all retiring officers. Mesdames Williams, Pike and Welch heartily endorsed her remarks.
