MARTINBOROUGH
PATRIOTIC EFFORT TO RAISE DISTRICT QUOTA. (“Times-Age” Special.) AL a special meeting the Patriotic Committee met representatives of the various sports bodies of the town to consider ways and means of raising the balance of the quota of £2BOO in the .borough and county in connection with the £1,000,000 appeal. Mr D. C. Pryor presided and explained that only about £660 had been so far received by voluntary subscription. It was reported that the county had not been canvassed. After - discussion it was decided that a further carvass be ’ made of the county and the following were appointed to carry out the same:—Matinborough Riding, Messrs A. B. Martin, W. B. Martin and H. Blundell; Pahaoa Riding, Messrs D. Cameron, R. Cundy, ad L. Sievers; Turanganui Riding, Messrs G. Gillies, T. Hume, and IVf. J. McLeod;. Otaraia, Messrs R. Smith, H. Martin, and A. Morrison. Later other efforts will be made to raise the balance of the money required.
Swimming Carnival.
Excellent entries have been received for the Swimming Carnival to be held in the baths including several swimmers from the other Wairarapa clubs. The proceeds are to be handed over to the Patriotic Society.
