GREYTOWN
HOME GUARD LARGE ATTENDANCE AT PARADE. ("Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the parade of the Greytown Home Guard last evening. Before the instruction commenced. Mrs. N. Brady presented the unit with a New Zealand Red Ensign. This flag was sent back from Egypt with the effect's of the late A. J. Brady, and has been autographed by his mates. In handing over the flag to the unit commander. Captain H. G. Carter. Mrs. Brady said her husband had left New Zealand to do his duty but unfortunately a fatal sickness had overtaken him before he had a chance to take part in the fighting. She expressed the hope that good fortune would favour the Greytown Home Guard. The Rev. H. Bloomfield, unit chaplain, then consecrated the flag and handed it to the unit, for safe keeping. This impressive ceremony closed with cheers for Mrs. Brady and her little daughter. The unit then proceeded to the .schoolgrounds and with the aid of car lights carried out platoon drill and field training. The physical training squad also gave a demonstration of the latest training methods. RED CROSS SOCIETY CLASS OF INSTRUCTION. The Red Cross Society’s weekly class was well attended last evening. Mr. Nesbit gave a very interesting lecture on anatomy. He said it was essential to have some knowledge of anatomy before doing first aid work. Mr. Langford gave instruction on bandaging which was carried out by the class.
