CARNIVAL CAMPAIGN

AIR FORCE QUEEN RACE MEETING TONIGHT. A LARGE CROWD EXPECTED. There should be plenty of thrills at the Municipal Hall tonight, when the Air Force Cup meeting will be held. The first race is timed to start at 7.45 o’clock and the starting times on the card will be strictly adhered to. Excellent nominations have been received. Undoubtedly there will be a large crowd present, and early arrivals will secure the best positions. Correct cards will be on sale at the small fee of fid each. Many Donors and Helpers. The members of the Air Force Queen Committee express their warmest appreciation 1o those who have so willingly assisted in numerous ways to further the Air Force Queen candidature. Particularly would they like to thank the management and staff of the Midland Hotel, Mr Warren, and the staff of the County Council workshop. Mr Syd. Smith has offered his services on numerous occasions and his assistance has been most appreciated. A hand-plaited bridle has been donated by Mr W. H. Dickens, and is made from home-cured yearling hide. Tickets for the bridle are procurable at the Air Raid shelter.

Good entries were received up to noon today for the third Army Queer race meeting which will be held in the Municipal Hall on Tuesday night. • The Trentham Military Band will appear in Masterion soon to help the I candidature of Miss Holdsworth. By courtesy of the Stale Theatre a special film in colour of the recent interhouse display and children's carnival will be shown, for which seats can be booked at Messrs Hugo and Shearer’s. Considerable interest is being aroused in the Fashion and Bathing Beauty Parade which is to be held soon. Provincial ARMY QUEEN DEBENTURES. Shares in the Diggers’ Army Queen Market are soaring skywards. These shares need no "nursing” as they are protected by Lie "Navy.” Shares can be bought al any stall on Friday.
