OBITUARY MR. B. S. MORGAN. (“Times-Age" Special.) Mr. Benjamin Sidney Morgan, a well-known resident of the district, died early this morning at the Greytown hospital. The late Mr. Morgan was born in Masterton 66 years ago. As a young man he worked at Rangitumau, and lost a leg in a bushfalling accident there. For over 30 years he had resided at Papawai. During the past few months he had been in poor health and entered the local hospital about a week ago. He is survived by his widow, five sons (Messrs. T. J.. Foxton military camp, H. M.. "Tui,” Palmerston military camp, Benjamin. Featherston, E. J„ Papawai and J. S. Papawai), and one daughter, Mrs. N. Olsen (Greytown) . '■ The funeral will take place on Monday at Greytown. CARNIVAL CAMPAIGN MACRI QUEEN GATHERING. The "Shipwreck Dance" at Morison's Bush on Monday evening is in support of the Country Queen. Special prizes have been awarded for the costumes and also for the euchre tournament.

The Maori Queen supporters had their headquarters at the Crown Theatre yesterday, and from an early hour they did good business. Tn the evening a programme of items was rendered and the various side shows attracted a large crowd. The winners of the competitions were: Box of chocolates, Miss T. Bennett; handkerchiefs. Lew Higgison: ornament. T. Tucker; sheep guessing E. .Bouzaid 1. G. Gray 2. A. N. Humphrey 3. A dance for the Town Queen will be held in the Odd Fellows' Hal] this evening and the opportunity will be taken by the Citizens' Committee to. make a presentation io the soldiers on leave. Home Guard. Advice was received last evening that the Physical Welfare Officer for the Wairarapa, Mr McCalman, is to commence the training of Home Guards al Greytown on Monday evening. Home Guard units from Carterton. Featherston and Martinborough are to send two-men from each platoon to bo trained under Mr McCalman.
