PATRIOTIC APPEAL MEETING OF COMMITTEE. I (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Patriotic Appeal i Committee was held in the Anzac Hall ; last evening, when Mr J. W. Card j ((Mayori was in the chair. . For Featherston’s quota of 24 parI cels for troops overseas it was deeid!ed to senci the cash to Wellington. ! where the parcels would be packed ; and forwarded. It was decided to hold a shop day in aid of the £1.000.000 Patriotic Appeal all those present to be a committee and Miss Card to be the convenor. Mr R. P. Hardy is to enquire into the question of arranging a stock drive and to report to the committee.
Mr Shepherd was authorised to sell a horse which had been donated. It was announced that the Lady Galway Committee would meet at the Red Cross Room on Friday, February 14 and this gathering would be followed by a meeting of the ladies' committee of the Patriotic Appeal.
I Mr Shepherd asked for the appoint- ; ment of an assistant secretary. The apI pointment was left for the committee i to decide. TENNIS MATCH ! CONTEST AT CARRINGTON PARK. I .Members of the Featherston Tennis i Club journeyed to Carrington Park Carterton, recently, and played a match with the Carrington Park Club winning by 15 games to 9. The following are the results.
