GREYTOWN

HOME GUARD ANOTHER GOOD PARADE. ("Times-Age'' Special.) The Greytown unit of the Home Guard paraded on Wednesday evening. There was an excellent attendance and a pleasing feature is that those who are unable to be present are letting the commander know the reason for their absence. Seventeen new members were enrolled and this brings the strength to near the 250 mark. During the evening training was given in company and squad drill, map reading and visual training. In anticipation of an issue of ammunition, a start is to be made with aiming tests and rifle range discipline.

Officers and n.c.o’s. to the number of forty attended the classes held at Carterton Showgrounds last evening. The next parade of the unit will be held on February 19, and at the end of the month a full day parade will be held. BOWLING CHAMPION SINGLES CONTEST In the champion singles competition of the Greytown Bowling Club, N. S. McLeod beat IL B. Wallace and IT Carter beat S. Shedden. Playing fur the Donnes Medal, S. Skeet, the holder, beat J. Reid. Messrs Beveridge and Larsen, of Martinborough, will play Donnes and Higgison this evening for the Grady Medals.
