VANDALISM CONDEMNED
CAMAGE TO STREET TREES. ’’TIME SOMETHING WAS DONE.” A. strong condemnation of vandalism was voiced at last night's meeting of the Masterton Borough Council by Councillor W. Kemp, when referring to damage to trees on the southern approach to the town. “It is time the general public, especially residents in the locality, should take some action in this matter. I feel sorry when men give their time and ratepayers find money for the worthy purpose of improving and beautifying the town .by planting trees that some people damage them. The same thing has occurred in the Park. It shows a lack of any control or any respect for either the public or private property of the town. It seems to me that something definite should be done by someone to put a stop to it. In other parts of the country they tell me damage of the kind amounts to hundreds of pounds."
